Over my 10 plus years as a personal trainer working with various clients and in my own fitness path, the one thing that keeps on becoming abundantly clear is that no matter how much knowledge, desire, positive thoughts, or research one does on finding the best way to exercise and eat right, most will fail to reach their particular goals because they are too lenient on themselves. Making excuses, justifications, the list goes on and on. Yes, all the things I mentioned above serve a purpose and obviously help but what trumps them all is having the utmost integrity with yourself. You can have the best accountability partner to get you up and running, or the best app to help track things, but strip everything away and what do you have left? You! Just you in your body and your commitment to yourself. Of course, there are times when we need rest and we pay attention intuitively to what our body needs, but often it's not as indulgent as we tend to make it. This may sound tough, but any success to be had will always come at some kind of cost. Choosing integrity instead of the endless cycle of excuses brings far greater happiness and rewards than we thought possible!
